It’s been a while since the last update, over 2 months in fact (note to self – must try harder!) It’s been a quiet couple of months in many ways, hence not feeling the need to write much.
On this day 5 years ago I woke up much as I would on any other day, much as I had pretty much every day for the previous 91/2years, same time, same place, except this time something was different – I didn’t have a job to go to. After a career in housing building my way up from a part-time Project Worker, to a Senior Management role I was made redundant due to funding cuts at the time when many Local Authorities were carrying out huge budget slashing exercises to many housing services. I had been supporting my teams through the consultation and redundancy process too, knowing that I didn’t have a job at the end of the proceedings, it was a hugely stressful time.

After cancelling this course back in December due to MASSIVE water levels, there was some concern that this weekend would prove the polar opposite and curse us with NO water! Luckily, although levels were low, there were options to run at.
Coach – Keith. Paddlers – Laura & Richard.
With the warmer weather and a rare free Sunday I posted up for an ‘Intro to Whitewater’ session, there was some initial interest but on the day only Laura and Richard were available, so of we went to Symonds Yat – as you all know a very suitable and friendly introductory river…..
